Privacy Policy

The short version. Your prayer records, dhikr counts, and reflections are yours. We do not sell them, we do not use them for advertising, and we do not build a profile from them. Most of what the app stores never leaves your device. You can export everything at any time, and delete everything at any time.

What is stored on your device

These stay in your browser or app storage and are not transmitted anywhere:

• Your chosen location, used to calculate prayer times and qibla direction
• Prayer calculation method and juristic preferences
• Theme, language, text size, and reading display settings
• Reminder settings and the times reminders are scheduled for
• Bookmarks, reading position, and recently viewed sections

Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app removes all of it. Export a backup first if you want to keep it.

What is stored on our servers

If you use the app without signing in, nothing is sent to us and no account exists.

If you create an account, these are stored so they are available across your devices: prayer logs, dhikr sessions, fasting records, Qur’an progress and bookmarks, hadith bookmarks, personal reflections, and your subscription status if you have one.

Your reflections are personal writing. We do not read them, analyse them, or use them to train anything. They are stored so you can retrieve them.

Location

Location is used for one purpose: calculating prayer times and the direction of the qibla. It is stored on your device and sent to a prayer-time calculation service to obtain the times for your coordinates.

We do not track your movements, keep a location history, or share your location with advertisers. You can decline location access and enter a city or coordinates manually instead — the app works fully either way.

Notifications

If you enable prayer reminders, the app schedules notifications for the times you choose. On iOS and Android these are scheduled with your device’s operating system. Notification permission can be withdrawn at any time in your system settings.

Third-party services

The app relies on these external services to function:

• Prayer time calculation. Receives coordinates and a date to return prayer times. No account information is sent.
• Qur’an text, translation, and recitation audio. Receives the surah or verse requested.
• Hadith text. Collection and book requests go to a public content delivery network (jsDelivr, with GitHub as a fallback). Only the book requested is sent.
• Fonts. Bundled with the app. No font server is contacted.

We do not use advertising networks, cross-app trackers, or behavioural analytics SDKs.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Account creation is not required to use it.

Your control over your data

• Export. Profile → Backup and restore produces a readable JSON file containing everything.
• Delete. Profile → Delete all my data permanently removes everything stored on this device and, if you are signed in, every record your account created. Uninstalling also removes device data. You can also email us and we will remove account data within 30 days.
• Use without an account. Every feature that does not require syncing works signed out.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, the app will say so before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.

Nur Al-Qalb provides religious reference material for study. It does not issue religious rulings. Prayer times are calculated approximations — confirm them with your local mosque.
